William wins Young Entrepreneur award
WILLIAM Gilpin, of Richill-based business Gilproduce, has won the Young Entrepreneur award at this years LEADER+awards.
William was involved in his family business processing vegetables for the catering and multiple retail sector: Inefficiencies in this business due to the non marketability of outgrades prompted him to seek market outlets to utilise such outgrades.
He decided to set up a new business applying an innovative peeling process previously unknown in UK and Ireland and applied to CARD to purchase the processing equipment necessary to achieve the maximum yield from the previously low grade vegetables.
William has created 30 permanent full time jobs to date as a result of this project.
